Zazzoo, the silvery furball that shared our lives and was Maggie's true companion for 13 years, died today.
Services will be held tomorrow, followed by a burial under the old apple tree in the backyard.
Namaste, Zazz. Namaste.
Zazz is at rest now; Bear placed fluffy cattails and berries with him and CD found a nice big stone to protect his sleep. Thank you, so much, for all the generous comments. It's helped.

So, so sorry for your loss.
Sorry this is long but this is a little story I found comfortinmg when we lost our gorgeous cat Curdie a few years ago.
We're thinking of you. xx
__________
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
so sorry to hear about zazzoo. we have a long history with pet funerals at our house--and even funerals for wild animals--so we wish you the best for your services.
I'm so so sorry to hear about Zazz. How lucky you both were to have one another.
I am so sorry for your loss. We have a host of geriatric animals here, and, it's so easy to think they will be around forever.
My thoughts are with you, Bear, CD and Maggie.
Go gentle, Zazz. May you have many long days of sunshine and open fields where you are now.
My best to you, CD and Bear, Elizabeth.
Rest well, Zazz, it is well earned. May your afterlife be filled with sunny windows, bouncing balls and warm laps for cuddling.
I'm so sorry about your friend, Zazzoo. He was blessed to have you and likewise you were blessed to have him.
Oh, Elizabeth, I am so terribly sorry. We lost a pet in September and were horribly sad, and it wasn't even a pet who had shared so many years with us.
Saying goodbye is the hardest part of pet ownership. I am sure your service for Zazzoo will be lovely.
